Natalie & Will – Naval Academy / Marriott Annapolis Waterfront Wedding Photography

July 29, 2014

Wow! This wedding. Total gorgeousness. The day was beautiful and everything was running more than smoothly until I boarded the shuttle with the bridal party to head to the Naval Academy and realized my ID was still in my car. Which was valeted back at the hotel. Oops. Totally not something I would normally do. Not to spend a lot of time on this story (it all worked out fine and I ended up not even needing it), but the resolution involved one of Will’s friends convincing the valet to let him into my car to dig through my purse to locate my driver’s license… without any direction on where to find it from me… This guy definitely has a career in criminal behavior if he wants one. I was impressed.

Anyhoo, back to Natalie and Will, because even despite my idiocy, they still stole the show. They are truly beautiful people, inside and out. One thing that was particularly fun about their wedding day was seeing the friendly Army/Navy rivalry. (It was all friendly, right guys?) Natalie grew up much like me, a military brat, used to moving around every few years. Her dad was in the Army so she was already pretty accustomed to the military lifestyle when she met Will. Will is in the Navy, a USNA grad, and comes from a family of naval officers, so of course plenty of dueling Army/Navy themes were present at the wedding. (Make sure you check out Natalie’s dad’s Army pride shirt he was hiding under his dress blues.)

One last thing I have to talk about is the story of how these guys met. Will’s mother is the librarian at the school where Natalie teaches, and after becoming friends with Natalie, starting telling her repeatedly that she needed to meet her son Will. And it was one of those set-ups that totally worked out! Guess “Momma knows best” really rings true every once in a while. 🙂
