I thought it would be impossible to keep having awesome wedding after awesome wedding, but this year has been like the gift that keeps on giving! The weddings I’m shooting lately are blowing my mind. Danielle is a photographer herself (which automatically adds a little pressure) but she did a great job of letting me do my thing and just making sure everything was really really pretty for me. 🙂 The spot she scoped out for the First Look was incredible, and clearly it was her attention to detail that created so many personal touches, making the whole day uniquely them. I didn’t even mind starting at 6:30am, because I knew there was a brunch reception and WAFFLES to look forward to. Danielle and James’ ceremony was equally personalized, incorporating a German log-cutting tradition to symbolize the first obstacle they must overcome in their marriage. Well, it might not have worked out exactly like planned, but I also took that to be a lesson in itself. Sometimes life gives you logs that are way too big to cut through, and your saw might be dull, but in the end you are still working as a team and doing it together! Can we also talk about their fantastic wedding attire? At our initial meeting, James told me he’d be wearing leather pants (which, admittedly, I had trouble picturing at the time) but they were even better than I could have imagined and he totally pulled them off. Danielle’s look complimented James’ perfectly, coming together in a vintage style with a modern twist. Sometimes at weddings I get so swept up in all the fun and unusual parts (in this case the s’mores bar, the lawn games, and a piñata) but all I had to do was watch James and the way he looks at Danielle to be instantly reminded that their love is so real and know that this marriage will overshadow even the wedding.
