I really love when an organization hires me to photograph their corporate volunteer event! Or whatever you call it. But you know, when companies have their employees volunteer in community spaces. This time around, I photographed a group of Sandy Spring Bank volunteers at Women Giving Back, a really neat non-profit in Sterling, VA.
Women Giving Back is an organization that helps women and children in crisis by distributing clothing at no cost. Definitely visit their website to learn more about what they do and why! I totally appreciated that their store felt more like a boutique, and the donations were super high-quality. In addition to supplying over 25,000 women and children with clothing every year, they also have a diaper pantry, snack program, prom boutique, and back-to-school supplies. Sandy Spring Bank donated not only in the form of money, but in time as well. We all took part in a short tour and introduction to their mission before everyone got to work! Plenty of jobs for everyone. Some volunteers quality-controlled the racks of clothing, some sorted jewelry, and some sized garments. The mood was jovial and spirits were high! I would encourage every company, big or small, to consider a corporate volunteer event for their employees. (And get pictures to prove it, of course.)
Since things have opened up a bit more post-Covid, I’ve shot quite a few gigs like this and really enjoyed it. Check out the corporate page of my website to see my hourly rate and learn more about having me tag along to your next event!
