This was a fun session! Usually it is the bride who has specific ideas about the engagement and wedding photos, but in this case it was the groom. Ashley is so easy-going and chill I know she will make the wedding day a breeze. Greg is a photographer himself (and photographing other photographers can be kinda intimidating) but he did a great job of letting me do my thing while also providing some inspiration here and there. While I can’t say I probably executed his vision perfectly, I do think I achieved mine! I wanted to do something a little more “off the beaten path” with these guys and so we explored the Naval Academy grounds after starting at State Circle with their dog Ollie. Ollie is a bit of an independent thinker (read: stubborn) so it was super helpful to have Shannon (former bride now friend!) along as our awesome dog wrangler and photo assistant. Shannon and Ashley are BFFs and it was fun to be part of their world for an evening and they were so great about making me feel included even when I know they have a million inside jokes and stories they could have been talking about instead. I also have to apologize to Greg because he got a grass stain on his pants in the very first pose I suggested. This was especially funny because he said, “This is going to make my pants dirty.” And I patted the ground and said, “Oh you’ll be fine, the grass is dry.” Whoops! Sorry Greg. Don’t worry, I took it all out in Photoshop, let’s just hope the cleaners did an equally good job!
